Mollie Partners with PayPal, Checkout.com Integrates Bizum
Hey Payments Fanatic!
European payment providers are making strategic moves to strengthen their local market presence.
Mollie and PayPal are joining forces to revolutionize marketplace payments across Europe, with Mollie becoming one of the few providers authorized to offer PayPal to marketplaces.
Through Mollie Connect, marketplaces can now integrate PayPal without requiring separate integrations or re-onboarding of sellers, streamlining operations and reducing technical complexity.
Meanwhile, Checkout.com is expanding its Spanish footprint by integrating Bizum, a payment solution created by local banks that has evolved from P2P transfers to become a major e-commerce payment method. With over 28 million users and 68,000 merchants already on board, Bizum has become particularly popular among younger Spanish consumers for its speed and efficiency.
Both moves highlight a growing trend: payment providers are increasingly focused on offering localized solutions while expanding their global capabilities.
Mollie stands out by supporting all Buy Now Pay Later options and being the only provider accepting gift cards at multi-seller checkout. At the same time, Checkout.com strengthens its position in Spain by integrating a locally preferred payment method.
